Methodologoy

There is an amazing amount of science available to us to use in our training, but navigating through it can be a daunting task. Some methods can be helpful, some not so. My job is to keep abreast of all this technology and help you use it to your benefit. However, it is entirely up to you to decide how much technology you wish to use. For some clients, even a pulse rate monitor detracts from the enjoyment of their workouts. For others, charting every detail through wattage output analysis, GPS monitoring, blood lactase measurement, and VO2 max testing is all part of gaining self-knowledge. Whatever your comfort level might be, I will help you use available technology in a way that helps you improve without dampening the enjoyment of participating in your sport.

In the last thirty years there have been remarkable discoveries about the human animal that have allowed athletes to fine-tune their training and surpass their former limits. At the same time, sports equipment has evolved dramatically. I have seen it all and tried much of it, and I know what works and what does not. The benefits of modern training techniques and high-tech equipment are fantastic, but integrating them into your life is not always so simple. My goal with any client is to help them find a balance between training, rest, nutrition, mastery of their equipment, and the sheer enjoyment of their sport.

With any coaching relationship, I strive for open communication. I am your source of feedback. I want you to learn about yourself through this process, and come away with a greater understanding of the methods and the madness. Every program level involves a daily training log, so that I can learn what makes you tick. Every day I can peek at your workouts, learn what works for you and what does not, and then fine-tune your training to help you reap the benefits.
